Trekking Ambassadors are looking forward to partnering with you. We understand that we are small part of the bigger picture. We are explorers who are giving back to the world we travel.
Hi there!
My name is Heather Bond. I am the Founder and a Lead Ambassador for "Trekking Ambassadors." As a world adventurer and former adventure racer, I look through the lenses of my eyes with awe of our natural world; and as a caring and compassionate human I see with my heart.
Do you have a bucket list, or as I like to call it my "Life List"? I certainly do. However my priorities have shifted through the years. Oh, I still have my list, but instead of it just being about me I want to make a positive impact on people's lives along my journey. So I started assembling a team of like minded adventurers who want to give back to the world we explore. We are "Trekking Ambassadors". We hike into remote regions around the world to bring much needed supplies to less fortunate villages, clinics and schools.
In the spring of 2022 we became a non-profit 501(c)3 under the umbrella of Santa Barbara Wellness Center Inc. www.SBWellness.org
Trekking Ambassadors started a mentorship program with the 6th, 7th and 8th grade students at the Waldorf School of Santa Barbara, www.Waldorfsantabarbara.org . Our program is designed to give these young students the understanding of various types of humanitarian work. .We visit the classrooms to share our upcoming missions and share the importance of renewable energy, such as the solar reading lights and how they benefit the students in these remote villages, where most have little to no access to electricity. Upon return from our trips we do a slideshow presentation for them and share our upcoming mission with them. Students can receive community service hours for their volunteer work, such as, cleaning and maintaing trails in our local community. At various times throughout the school year students participate as teen co-hosts on Santa Barbara Teen Sports radio talking about what they have learned and or how they have helped.
"Treks for Light and Sight", mission one, successfully completed in July and August, 2022 in Marangu Village,Tanzania.
Trekking Ambassadors established solar light libraries at both the Makomu and Umboni Secondary schools. We are aquiring and fundraising for the solar goods through Unite to Light www.Unitetolight.org
Our next mission of Treks for Light and Sight will take place in March of 2023 in the high remote villages of the Everest region in Nepal.
Please go to "Trek Everest Region" on the menu to find out more details.
Your support makes a difference. We'll make sure the supplies are delivered safely on our backs!
We value being the difference through selflessness and dedication to building sustainable relationships, community engagement and protecting the environment.
By bringing cultures together and teaching us about our shared humanity, travel has the power to change the world, one school, one village, one person at a time. When determining how we can help the people, schools and communities we visit, we always ask for the wisdom of local leadership and the involvement of the community to ensure we are providing what is needed.
Our goal at Trekking Ambassadors is to provide much needed essential materials to those less fortunate. Our team is equipped to trek into harsh unpredictable remote regions worldwide.
Our team has a pioneering spirit and tenacity to make a difference and with your support and donations we can "Be the change."
Heather and Joseph met in 1996 in British Columbia while competing in the famous adventure race, The Eco-Challenge. This was the first time they volunteered together on a global community outreach project. Since then they have traveled the globe.
In 2019 for the Amazon Prime video series of The World's Toughest Race Eco-Challenge, Joseph and Heather worked together to bring much needed reading books to remote villages in Fiji.
Heather and Amy were introduced through a program called the Mindful Creators. Both in similar industries they hit it off from the start. They have spent many hours dreaming of bringing Trekking Amassadors and the upcoming projects, "Treks for Light & Sight" into reality all while trekking high mountains throughout their home state of California.
Thank you for your support.
Remember that while we go about our every day lives, flipping on and off our light switches and putting on our sunglasses, there are so many people on this planet who have never even seen these items.
To know that we can make an impact on another person's life is an absolute blessing. If our mission intrigues you, please help by sharing this fundraising cause with others.
Blessings to us all on our journeys! Whatever they may be!
Heather Bond
